Osteopathy primarily involves the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of muscle, joint and skeletal conditions, where possible helping to avoid the need for surgery or drugs. As an Osteopath, I aim to help your body heal itself from a myriad of issues, from sporting injuries and back and joint pains to pregnancy pains and stress related illnesses such as headaches.

Working to restore the natural balance of your body and to identify unique causative factors, in my Osteopathy clinics, I not only strive to allow you to overcome a range of specific issues, but also to improve your overall health.

Who can Osteopathy help?

From the young to the old, the office worker to the sportsperson, Osteopathy can help a wide range of people.

I also practice Cranial Osteopathy, which is suitable for patients of all ages and conditions, including new-born babies  and the elderly. Visit my Cranial Osteopathy page to learn more.

Osteopathic therapy in practice

An Osteopath uses a variety of hands on, physical techniques and approaches to examine, restore and realign the natural functions and mechanisms of your body.

Amongst other things, an Osteopathic consultation can include taking your case history, a clinical examination, an explanation as to the causative factors of your symptoms and the length of treatment required and, importantly, suggestions as to how you can help yourself towards future wellbeing,

Osteopathic therapy: Safeguards and regulation

The practice of Osteopathy is regulated by law and all UK Osteopaths must be registered with the General Osteopathic Council (the “GOsC”). You can find my registration details on their site. You can also learn more about my background as an Osteopath in London.

In addition to undertaking a four to five year course to qualify as an Osteopath, one must also undergo ongoing professional development and abide by the GOsC Code of Conduct.

Non-invasive treatment

Osteopathy is a complementary therapy which aims, where possible, to resolve symptoms without the aid of surgery or drugs if possible (please note: in certain cases, referral to other medical specialists may be appropriate). Having said this, I frequently work in tandem with my patients’ doctors and it is always advisable to keep your doctor informed of your Osteopathic treatment.

Moreover, Osteopathy involves several medical elements including taking your medical history, a clinical examination and, in some cases, further tests such as x-rays and MRI imaging.

How to visit an Osteopath

Anyone can visit an Osteopath. You may be referred by your GP, but do not need a referral to book a consultation.
