Cranial Osteopathy
Cranial Osteopathy is a very gentle, very safe form of Osteopathic therapy which aims to relieve tensions and strains in your body and your head. It is ideal for more delicate groups such as the elderly, the frail, expectant mothers and even newborn babies, but can be used as part of an eclectic treatment protocol with any patient, of any age.
Using hands-on physical techniques, Cranial Osteopathy strives to allow the body to release pressure, alleviate strain and to heal itself from injury. As a qualified Cranial Osteopath, I use this either as a standalone therapy or as part of an overall Osteopathic treatment.
How can a Cranial Osteopath help you?
As with the classical method, Cranial Osteopathy aims to address the underlying causative factors which challenge your wellbeing and can work towards treating a variety of conditions.
I may use Cranial Osteopathy to treat many of the same conditions as I would with Classical Osteopathy. Whether I use one or the other is a matter of sensing and responding to your body’s individual requirements.
Cranial Osteopathy in practice
Addressing the essential link between your emotional state and your physical health as well as any symptoms you may have, Cranial Osteopathy is a method which works with the natural processes of your body.
Cranial Osteopathy is particularly focused on what is termed the ‘Cranial rhythm’. This is a very subtle, involuntary movement or rhythm which is believed to run in every individual. Furthermore, its uninterrupted flow is thought to be vital to our overall health.
As an Osteopath in general, I work by the theory that your emotions can affect your cranial rhythm. For example, it can be disrupted by stresses, strains and by your general lifestyle. At my London clinics, I use my extensive training to sense your cranial rhythm and, where it has been disturbed, I help to understand the reason for this and to release the tension.
